"Technically it's the CHIBA Game Sho-" just stop

As a long-time Kansai resident—20 years next summer!—I (Diamond Feit) have a lot of anti-Tokyo bias. It's so big, everyone goes there, it dominates the media, etc. Yet I must admit Tokyo has its uses and I do visit on occasion.

One such occasion was last month for the annual Tokyo Game Show. While not actually held in Tokyo, it's close enough, and people from all over the globe show up with software and related goods to show off—including members of the press who might report on said offerings.

As Retronauts's Senior Japan Correspondent I sit in the host chair this week and speak to Jeremy Parish and Chris Kohler about their recent visit to these shores. Neither man had been to TGS in quite some time, an oddity given that both made regular excursions in the past as part of their duties in the press. Tune in to find out the state of Tokyo in 2026!

I also chime in with a solo segment covering indie games which I played and enjoyed at TGS; for clarity purposes I will list those titles now:

  • Cybernetic Attack Final Mission (TBD)
  • Re:Connect (Q1 2027)
  • Sofia in Exchange for Lies (already on Steam)
  • Xerme (pronounced "sher-may", TBD)
  • Rules of Residence (2027)
  • 高価買盗 aka "Best I Can Do" (2027)
  • Bahgonia (TBD)
  • Donut Panic (TBD, demo on Steam)
  • Become (TBD)

Description: Diamond Feit, Jeremy Parish, and Chris Kohler return from Tokyo and TGS 2026 with tales of retro game shopping, how the city & show have changed, and what they played on the show floor.
