Persona Series Producer Says Remakes Of Persona 1 And 2 Are ‘Something We’ll

Kazuhisa Wada, producer on the Persona franchise, has stated during an interview with Rock Paper Shotgun that Atlus will most likely get around to remaking Persona 1 and Persona 2 down the line.

He stated that Atlus has a “duty” to make sure its back catalogue aren’t left in the dust “and are still around in the modern day,” and therefore added that “Persona 1 and 2 are something that we’ll probably eventually do, too.” This isn’t the first time that Wada-san has touched base on remakes of Persona and Persona 2, as he told GamerBraves back in August that “I think it’s something we should definitely do. I think we have to do it.“

Right now Atlus is bus working on its revamp of Persona 4 in the form of Persona 4 Revival, which launches early next year. Prior to that, the studio released Persona 3 Reload, a remake of the third game in the series. However, fans have been clamouring for a remake of the first two games, and given Wada’s latest comments, it looks like it could actually happen.

The original Persona, known as Revelations Persona, was released in the US and Japan in 1996 but wasn’t released in Europe until the PSP version in 2010. Persona 2: Innocent Sin followed up in 1999 for the PlayStation, but was released as a Japan-exclusive until the 2011’s Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 2 — Innocent Sin for the PSP.
